Ciao! At La Piazza, our passion for cooking is deeply rooted in our rich heritage. The tradition starts with Joey's Great-Grandfather, who was a baker from Abruzzi, Italy. When he emigrated to America and settled in South Philadelphia with his family, he brought with him his recipes and a zeal for sharing his love of food with others. After arriving in America, he opened a bakery of his own which was family owned and operated until 1967. Joey started cooking with his grandmother when he was 8 years old. From her father, she passed on the recipes from the Old Country. She taught Joey to love and crave the joy that comes from cooking great food for others, and he has been doing it for well over 40 years! Buon Appetito!
